WARNING: This post could upset those with a sensitive disposition! I am in a bad mood today and it's got nothing to do with the heat!

I was with a new shirt customer yesterday who had just about had it with cheap off the peg shirts. He had tried to get some of his shirts altered following weight loss and to his horror, the seamstress told him she couldn't adjust them because the seams weren't sewn. They were GLUED TOGETHER. "WTF?" I hear you exclaim - yep you heard me right.

I'm frequently getting asked by my clients to give a quick run through of how to launder and iron shirts. There are decades old methods of course, but I'm going to share exactly how I do it... definitely not the perfect method but it gets the job done and most importantly saves a lot of time and hassle. With everything it takes a bit of practice but once you get the hang of it you should be able to have a shirt pressed in well under two minutes.

A smart casual dress code opens up a huge variety of options. It also causes a lot of concern and confusion for many men - the majority of us know how to dress down (jeans and tee shirt), or dress up (suit, shirt and tie)... but that bit in between is a like the Bermuda Triangle for many who just don't know where to start.

Happy New Year!

So, it’s New Year Resolution month – the month when you need to focus with maximum effort on all those resolutions you made last weekend, to turn them from a wish list into an actual habit that will last year long!

For anyone whose wardrobe is becoming one of life’s annoyances, this is the perfect time to have a quick audit and clear out. I’m doing exactly this myself, having gotten tired of the pile of ties, shirts, jackets and suits at the back of the wardrobe that I haven’t worn for 2 years or so for various reasons. It all must go.

A perfectly tailored suit ought to be a piece of everyone's wardrobe, regardless of whether you are a man or woman. A lot of organizations want their employees to dress with respect to a particular dress code, usually a type of business suit. A valid reason why businesses prefer their workers to adhere to a more formal dress code is the representatives of the company are exactly that: representatives of the company! And most business want to appear to be at the very least competent and confident.

So there I was on Monday night halfway through the first showing of SPECTRE at my local IMAX when I realised my brain was more focused on the clothes than the plot line. Not that there was much of one (the plot line that is)... more on that later, I am currently torn between posting my review and not, since I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen the film yet.

As featured in the February 2015 issue of Canary Wharf Magazine, here are my style DO NOTs - from the shoes that won't get you hired to the sunglasses that will make you look like a fool:

1. Don't wear pointed shoes. Ever. They are a statement of fashion, not style and do not work for most men. If you are trying to work your way up the career ladder, your senior leaders will find your penchant for pointy shoes troubling. Trust me, I work for a lot of senior business leaders and it's their number one bugbear when it comes to appearance.

So having said I was perfectly happy with my iPhone 5s there I was, yet again, hitting the refresh button on their website on the night of the launch of the iPhone 6/6 Plus.

I genuinely was happy with my iPhone 5s - the only niggle being that since the upgrade to iOS 8, I was lucky if my battery lasted past 11am in the morning (my day starts at around 5.30am) and 5-6 hours of use was just getting ridiculous.

Everyone’s sense of style is as unique as his or her own fingerprints. Some people get this early on, others go through years of trial and error, experimenting frequently before they discover their true self. So what is personal style? How is it different from fashion? Why is it even important? And how do we develop it? For me, personal style is the projection of our true selves, our character and our ambitions, through the way we dress – giving insights into who we are as individuals. It’s the method of conveying who you are and how you’d like others to see you.
