From Humble Beginnings to London’s Most Trusted Bespoke Tailor

Growing up in London in the 80s and 90s, I was surrounded by the energy and grit of family businesses. My grandfather ran a restaurant and two carpet stores in central London. When he passed away in 1984, my father took up the mantle - first as a salesman, then launching his own company. Most of my childhood outside school was spent working, absorbing the work ethic and dedication that my clients know me for today.

But my journey into tailoring began not in a shop, but out of necessity. As a fast-growing child, my working-class family couldn’t afford to keep up with my wardrobe needs. I often wore my dad’s old clothes to school - 70s flares in the era of 80s drainpipes. It made me an easy target for bullies, but it also forced me to get creative, altering my clothes to make them look more contemporary. I started to get bullied just a little less! I learned, first-hand, that how you dress changes how you’re treated. What started as survival soon became a passion.

I excelled in Art & Design at school and after college I set my sights on fashion retail - though breaking in wasn’t easy. My first real break came in direct sales, where I quickly stood out for both my results and my three-piece suits. Even though it was a business smart casual environments I believed in dressing like the boardroom, after all that’s where my ambitions lay. Eventually, I landed at an international custom clothing company in London’s West End, building my skills and a loyal clientele over seven years. After a successful stint with a boutique tailoring shop in the City, I listened to my clients - and my wife Carolina - and took the leap to start my own business.

In September 2011, at the exact same age my father had been when he launched his own business, Roberto Revilla London was born.

From a standing start, we delivered over 1,000 garments in our first year. Today, we remain a 100% family-run business, setting new standards for exceptional, bespoke London tailoring and unrivalled customer service.
